Throughout the course of life, a person faces many large and small obstacles. Some obstacles are overcome with minimal effort, and others require strong willpower and maximum effort. One of these obstacles is the vice of smoking. Some consider it a disease, others consider it just a bad habit, and others consider it as a weakness.
Yes, maybe it’s a habit! A smoker grabs a cigarette in any stressful situation like a drowning man at a limb, considering that a cigarette will give him confidence, peace of mind and help him find the answer to a difficult situation. But this is misleading. The man himself must overcome difficulties and not try to solve problems with a piece of paper, stuffed with tobacco. After all, it will never solve them.
Yes, maybe it’s a disease! A person addicted to nicotine, practically cannot give up cigarettes. But smoking – is not a toy. Tobacco smoke, for example, may lead to the disease of asthma. Tobacco is one of the strongest allergens known to science. It affects the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, reduces immunity and makes the smoker more susceptible to upper respiratory infections. Yet, it has been proven that smoking plays a big role in the development of diseases such as chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD), lung cancer and heart disease. Additionally, smokers are more prone to chronic bronchitis than non-smokers.
Each cigarette contains a huge number of various harmful substances, including nicotine, which irritates the valve between the esophagus and the stomach, and gastric mucosa. That’s why smokers often suffer from heartburn. Smoking can also cause or exacerbate a headache. These are just a few examples of diseases that affect smokers.
Smoking cannot find any exculpatory reasons. A healthy person runs the risk of making it his addiction. Quit smoking! Of course, this is easier said than done. But you should try to overcome this obstacle, no matter how difficult it may be.
I hope that my words will not be the last, but still a drop in the fight against smoking.
