Why is adolescence assumed to be an awkward age?

Sometimes, a period of adolescence is considered to be an awkward age. This meaning takes place because every teenager starts to reassess their values, choose their path in life, assess themselves as individuals, assess their gifts and talents, and find their place in society.

At this time, the full transition to adulthood on all levels begins.
First, changes start on the physiological level – a hormonal balance begins to transform. The body launches new physiological processes that alter the appearance and voice of person.
Hormonal changes cause the consequent changes to the psychological level, as well. The person becomes very sensitive to respect, insults, comments and ridicule. Suddenly, facts not noticed earlier become very important to the person. The person is looking for a place in society and comes to realization.
Though these first conclusions are often wrong, as they are formed under the influence of hormonal changes. But a teenager can take these new decisions for granted and stops feeling hope and seeing the future, which sometimes may lead to suicide. But if all teens understood that it’s just because of hormones, some of them would not have died.

A spiritual level is the third and also important level. Teenagers begin to look for the meaning of life, its purpose, as well as find and disclose their interests and talents. Or vice versa; they cannot even navigate and understand themselves. So often teenagers do everything “for the company,” with their friends.

That’s why this age is called an awkward age – the transition from childish “rose-colored glasses” to an adult perception of life. The transition can be difficult or pass easily, but everyone experiences this age. And we see this with many people living in the world, so this transition should pass everyone.
